Beginner Blacksmithing Course: Forge Your First Creations
Step into the world of traditional craftsmanship and learn the foundational skills of blacksmithing in this hands‑on beginner course. Designed for complete newcomers, this class guides you through the essential techniques, tools, and safety practices needed to shape metal with confidence.
What You’ll Learn
Understanding the forge, anvil, and basic blacksmithing tools
Heating, shaping, tapering, twisting, and bending steel
Safe hammering techniques and proper workshop etiquette
How to create simple, functional projects such as hooks, toasting fork, pokers, keyrings, bottle openers , or small decorative items of your own idea.
Finishing methods to protect and enhance your work
You’ll work directly at the anvil under the guidance of an experienced instructor, gaining practical skills through real projects. Each project builds on the last, helping you develop control, precision, and a feel for the craft.
Perfect for beginners with no prior experience. Whether you’re exploring a new hobby, looking to build practical skills, or simply curious about the art of forging, this course offers a welcoming and supportive environment.
You’ll walk away with your own handmade pieces, a solid understanding of blacksmithing fundamentals, and the confidence to continue your journey into more advanced techniques.
Day Beginner blacksmith course April 25th 2026 0900 till 1600.
You must wear appropriate clothing non flammable clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty, if you have safety boots please wear them.
If you have your own safety equipment please bring it. Safety glasses, ear plugs, Apron will be provided.
Please provide your own food/lunch. Tea and coffee provided
Location Malvern WR13. On booking the course I will contact you with further details of address and course information. My workshop is situated on a working dairy farm.
